Special Features of the Program

The basic courses of most post-graduate level programmes in management are somewhat similar.yet most programmes offer some unique inputs which, we believe, should guide students to choose the programme they may join. These features give character and substance to the course of study and distinguish one programme from others. The distinctiveness of the present programme is as follows :

  • The faculty has given special attention to the delivery of the programme, i.e. the manner in which each subject is handled and integration of subjects has received special attention of the faculty. We believe that knowledge acquired in a programme of study should be used in dealing with day to day problems that a manager is required to handle. While theory that has developed through systematic research and experience is useful in predicting and diagnosing problems in the organization and business, the process of applying the theory is achieved by employing teaching methodologies such as "action-learning" and “experiential” approaches to ensure that theory and practice go together. This pedagogy requires students to work on live problems. The process of linking theory and practice is strengthened by presentation of problem and its resolution by the student. The programmes in some of the best known institutions in europe have used these learning methodologies with advantage.
  • Institutional arrangement with iit delhi , whereby students can study additional papers (core & elective) offered by iit.
  • The centre has the tradition of research in people related issues in organizations and helping organisations to use the findings in administration. This methodology has also been used in the many development programmes by the centre for practicing executives. This methodology will be used in the present programme as well.
  • Being a professional programme, the institute's approach to teaching and working emphasizes
  • (i) acquiring research and experience based knowledge of a subject;
    (ii) application of knowledge in problem diagnosis, problem solving and decision making;
    (iii) self development of individuals by handling live problems at individual and group level; and
    (iv) concern for business ethics and values.

  • Regular involvement of students with industry and public organizations on live problems is an integral part of the programme. The students receive guidance of the faculty and other concerned people in handling such assignments. This experience contributes to the confidence in one's own abilities which is so important for managerial work.
  • Cross-cultural orientation in each subject area is also emphasized to develop national and international perspectives in managerial roles.
  • Modest fees which includes provision of 10 core books, membership of british council library & sponsorship to one national seminar.
